Step 2: Be Found on the Internet

Search engine registration - we will register your web site with the top 10 search engines.

What is a domain name?

A domain name is an address on the Internet; just like your business has an address in the physical world your web page has an address in cyberspace. Simply put, its how people find you on the Internet.

Why have one?

Registering a domain name for the Internet is the equivalent of registering a company name in the "real" world. It is completely unique - once the name is registered, no one else may use that name. A domain name is the way an individual or company can uniquely identify itself on the Internet.

How to choose one!

Many people use their names, i.e. www.johndoe.com, or a slogan, such as www.johnsellshomes.com. The maximum number of characters allowed in a domain name is 63 (plus the .com,) and no other characters other than letters, numbers, and the hyphen symbol (-) may be used in a domain name.
How to register!

After checking for availability of a name, we will file the appropriate applications to secure your unique name. This is called Domain Name Registration. If you have already registered your domain name, all the better!

How much?

The cost of your domain name is US$70.00 (see pricing) for the first two years of registration. Registration of the domain name requires a credit card, and the fees for domain names are nonrefundable. You can either register your domain name, or we would be happy to register the domain name for you on your behalf.

Linking to your website!

Hey, leave that up to us! After you've decided on your name and either you have registered your name or we've done it for you we'll link your domain name to your myRealPage.com.

Step 3: Linking up your Site

On the Net: Make sure that you have plenty of Internet presence that points users to your site. The more times your site is linked to from other sites, the more visitors you will have!

If you can include links in your corporate site and the MLS, make sure those sites link, or at least refer to, your web site.

Here are some examples where your site should be linked!

  • Broker Page
  • MLS.ca
  • Local Real Estate Boards
  • Local or Community sites
  • The Web Sites of Friends and Referrals

Step 4: Cross-Promotion

  • Include prizes on your web site
  • Market the information on your site! Include Newspaper advertising saying "For a free home evaluation go to www.janeqagent.com".
  • Sell the content - "10 steps to buying a home at www.janeqagent.com".
  • "Find the moving information you need to know at www.janeqagent.com".
  • Generate press releases about you (and your Internet services), and indicate where readers can get more information.
  • Advertise your services and the information and tools available on your web site.

Step 5: Tell Everybody!

Tell your dentist. Tell everybody!

Word of mouth is the friendliest, most reliable advertising method. Once one person realizes the usefulness of your web site, they will direct others there as well. Eventually, you will sell a home to one of those people!

Step 6: Respond to and Interact with your Web Site Visitors

Visitors will learn quickly that your web site is not just another advertising gimmick once you begin to interact with them. Use all of the tools in your Automated Internet Marketing System to give your Internet visitors the treatment they weren't expecting!

  • Check your e-mail frequently. Have your e-mail sent directly to your phone or to a PDA or blackberry device.
  • Engage and interact with your visitors. Why? Because that's how web users like to communicate. Many agents, however, still resist using e-mail. And some of those who do use it are not using it to their best advantage.
  • Answer your e-mail immediately, even if you just say "I've received your inquiry, but I'm leaving to show property right now. I'll write a detailed answer to your questions when I return." And then be sure you do.
  • Learn to send listing information and photos from your web site via e-mail.
